Always Summer Here

Description

Finished some more art. :)
I saw a contest about winter and summer here on DA, and it gave me a neat idea for a picture.

It also gave me another piece to include glowing warm colors against a cool background. Light sources like that are always fun to work with.
The trees were an interesting challenge, too. :D

The glowing chest jewel was probably inspired by Dragonheart. That's still one of my favorite movies...

I tried to sketch this one out in a real rough manner, and make the line art last. This was going to be a quick sketch, but I ended up putting quite a bit of time into it again. Sketching can be really good practice, but when one turns out nicely, I want to make the final picture as good as I possibly can. :)

This is still my favorite piece of yours by far! I love the use of colors and the lighting. The details on the face, the tree, and the background are absolutely phenomenal. I enjoy the fact that you used the glowing gem as the source of light and life for the place of eternal summer. It was also a perfect choice to place it in the center of the winter scene as well. Though it is true that the dragon could use some snow on her, but maybe she's too warm and it just melts off!

I think it tells a story of wonder and beautiful enchantment. You also do that plenty of times with your work and they're just so incredibly enticing!

The only thing I have a problem with is the arms because they look a little muddy and smeared too much, but I honestly have the same problem and nothing's perfect. However, yours is as close to perfect as it could get! Thanks so much for sharing your work and i'll look forward to more gorgeous pieces of art in the future!
